Welcome to the September 2011 Akai Pro newsletter. This month we’re giving out more free beats, catching up with Foster the People and interviewing producer, drummer and Platinum Boy CEO, Amadeus. There’s some news on EIE and EIE Pro, an exciting development for the MINIAK synth and a couple of new, elemental apps for SynthStation25. Scroll down and check it all out.
Since 1985, Sound On Sound magazine has been on the frontlines of music recording technology, building an ever-expanding archive of highly informative articles both in print and online. Naturally, SOS stopped by the Akai Pro booth at Summer NAMM to check out the EIE & EIE Pro. See what they discovered.
Our friends at Hypersynth have created a great tool to give you enhanced control of your MINIAK synth. MINIAK-editor lays out all of your MINIAK’s settings and controls on your computer screen and allows you to send a complete program to your MINIAK via sysex or change any parameter in real-time. Plus, it’s both PC and Mac compatible. It’s crazy.
ARGON iceGear describes their Argon virtual analog synth app as being, “highly-tweakable.” Need we say more? Perhaps, just a little: This app also includes a loop recorder, step sequencer, 128 presets and now works with SynthStation25. Experience the tweakability.
XENON iceGear’s other chemistry experiment is Xenon. Not satisfied with the 54 protons that Xenon normally contains, iceGear has packed this groove synthesizer app with three types of synthesizers, a drum machine and over 350 preset sounds. Xenon also works with SynthStation25. Better get your goggles.
A few months back, we featured Foster the People and their video for "Pumped Up Kicks." The Los Angeles indie rock trio has been seeing a ton of success lately, climbing almost every chart and receiving nominations for two MTV Video Music Awards. Check out this video for their equally infectious song, “Houdini,” complete with cameos from MPK61 and APC20.
50 Cent, Lil Wayne, T.I., Keyshia Cole, Fabolous, Diddy, Danity Kane, and Busta Rhymes. These are just some of the artists that have been produced by MPC aficionado, Amadeus. In this interview, we get some of his backstory, some valuable advice for producers, and find out how he made a connection with a certain 18th century composer.
This month we’ve loaded up the Akai Pro Beat & Loop Library with some indie dance and electro house drum loops and also created guitar and synth loops that fit perfectly with them. Grab the new beats and loops on soundcloud.com, and connect with us on Facebook for real-time updates.
