Foster the People is an indie rock band from Los Angeles, California. They also use the Akai Pro MPK61 performance keyboard controller as shown in the video above.
The band started in October 2009 and quickly gained popularity. Members include Mark Foster on keyboards, guitars, and vocals; Mark Pontius on drums; and Cubbie Fink on bass and backing vocals. The band is best known for their song "Pumped Up Kicks", which came in at number 32 on Australia's Triple J Hottest 100 of 2010. The video for Pumped Up Kicks received more than a million hits on You Tube in less than two months and there seems to be no end in sight for the rise of the band.
NPR credits the rise to fame of Foster the People on getting play on The Hype Machine and performances at South by Southwest. Foster the People have a single EP called Foster the People EP.
Foster the People is on tour in 2011 with sold out stops in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., London and Quincy, WA.
