Akai MPX8 - Creating a custom kit with the Editor software

akai mpx8 and editor faqThe MPX8 comes with free Editor software that allows custom drum and sample programs to be created. Samples can be easily loaded from an SD card and arranged onto the pads. The following article covers how to create a custom program.

 

Creating a custom kit

For information on how to properly prepare your samples for use with the MPX8, see the following guide

  1. Plug your SD card into your computer.
     
  2. Drag and drop your prepared samples onto the root level of your SD card.
     
  3. Open the MPX8 Editor software.

  4. Click on Select SD card and choose your SD card.

  5. Select the pad you want to place a sample on. It will be highlighted in red.
     
  6. In the blue display area of the editor click on SD Card.

  7. In the drop down menu, select the sample you want to assign to that pad.
     
  8. Repeat steps 5-7 until you have created your entire kit.
     
  9. Click on Save Kit and select the kit location you want to save to. Click on Confirm.

  10. Click on File and then Exit to close the editor software. Eject your SD card.

 

Editing a Kit

  1. Plug your SD card into your computer.
     
  2. Open the MPX8 Editor software.

  3. Click on Select SD card and choose your SD card.

  4. Click on Load Kit and select the kit you would like to edit.
     
  5. Perform your changes.
     
  6. Click on Save Kit and select the kit location you want to save to. Click on Confirm.

  7. Click on File and then Exit to close the editor software. Eject your SD card.
