What is an EWI?
EWI stands for Electronic Wind Instrument. An EWI is a wind-instrument controller with a sound-generation source. EWIs are most commonly played like a saxophone, although wind players of all kinds can take advantage of the EWI series’ multiple instrument fingering modes that include trumpet, flute and oboe. EWIs convert fingering, breath, bite, finger pressure, and other playing information into control signals. EWIs can sound like anything you can imagine… from piccolo to tuba and handbells to synthesizers.
