The MPD232 is a USB/MIDI pad controller perfect for producers, programmers, musicians and DJ's alike. Its intuitive blend of MPC controls and technologies mesh with easy USB connectivity to bring the feel of classic beat making into the world of computer music production. This provides presets, preference files, and instructions on how to easily map setup the controller with Logic Pro X.
For your convenience, we've put together a preset file and Logic Pro Control Surface Preference file to easily map the controller parameters to Logic Pro X. The files can be downloaded at the link below:
Keep in mind, this will come in a zipped folder. Please make sure to double-click on the folder to unzip it once it has completed downloading.
In order to load the preset file onto the MPD226, you will also want to download and install the MPD226 Editor. You can download the editor here:
Your preset should now be loaded and you are ready to install the MPD232 control surface preference file!
Important: In order to share a mapping profile for Logic Pro X, the control surface preference file must be replaced. This will overwrite any "learned" control assignments previously made in Logic Pro X.
Once the file has been installed, power on your MPD232, select the Logic X preset and open Logic Pro X. Once the Logic has opened and fully loaded the control surface preferences (this may take a few seconds), you should start to see response from the faders, knobs and buttons. To check the current assignments in Logic, navigate to Logic Pro X > Control Surfaces > Controller Assignments. Click on the Expert view and the window should look something like this
If your window does not look like this and you do not see the listed controls and parameters, try the process above again. Ensure that Logic Pro X is completely closed first and try deleting the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file in the Preferences folder before dragging in the file provided by Akai Pro.
The Logic X preset on the MPD232 should already be set to the proper settings and you should see the transport (Play/Stop/Record) start working immediately. If not, check your Clock Source setting and Transport Type on the MPD232:
