The Akai MPK mini mkII series controllers combine deep software integration, enhanced workflow, and core technologies from the iconic line of MPC workstations. The MPK series are engineered to be all-in-one controller solutions for comprehensive interfacing and manipulation of virtual instruments, effect plugins, DAWs, and more. This article walks through how to setup the MPK mini mkII series controller with Presonus Studio One Prime.
To use and sync the arpeggiator on your MPK mini mkII with Studio One, you have to synchronize the clock of the MPK with the software. Arpeggiators and other time-based effects, like Note Repeat, require a MIDI clock signal
With this newly created External Instrument, we can now use the arpeggiator and note repeat function with the Presence plug-in withing the software.
Note: Note Repeat and Arpegiattor require clock information, so they will only work when you have your session playing.
The Presonus Studio One software is an all in one software that includes everything you need to start creating! All of your instruments are included in the Presence Plug-in.
Note: You can not use 3rd Party Plug-ins in this software

Mapping your knobs to specific parameters is very simple in the Studio One Prime Software. In this example, we will be using the K5 knob and the Presence Volume slider in our console.
Note: If you cannot see your console, press F3 on your keyboard to make it appear.
And that's it! You have now assigned a knob in your software! Repeat these steps for all the knobs for whichever function you want.
Note: You can also map your knobs to any parameters in your Presence Plug-in, such as LFO, Cutoff, etc.
If using Presence to play drum parts, you may need the pads to trigger specific drum sounds. For instance, Pad A1 is the kick, Pad A2 is the snare, etc. To help you with this, we've built a preset that will automatically assign the pads to trigger certain drum sounds. Download the preset below:
To send the preset to the MPK mini, first close Studio One and open the MPK mini mkII Editor. Follow the guide below for a full process of loading presets onto your MPK mini mkII:
Once the preset has been assigned and loaded onto the MPK mini mkII, the pads will trigger the following drum sounds in Presence:
