The multi instrumentalist, Grammy winning production team of Tim & Bob have solidified themselves as the most consistent urban duo producers for 17 years running. With 12 Grammy nominations and 2 wins as well as multiple award nominations, they consistently raise the bar. The duo has sold over 250 million albums worldwide. With artists they have discovered, record deals acquired and hit albums they have executive produced; they have redefined the business model.
Responsible for the early boom of the Atlanta music scene along side their mentor Dallas Austin; they began their careers working with artists TLC, 112 (whom they discovered) and Monica. It didn’t take long for the word to spread, and they had a stable of established artists they were working with, such as Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men, Babyface, Madonna, Joe, Sisqo, Debra Cox, Isley Brothers, David Hollister, Tyrese, Destiny's Child, and Will Smith. Simultaneously they began working on soundtracks, including; “How to Be a Player," Players Club, Poetic Justice," "Wild Wild West," and "The Nutty Professor 2."
They were subsequently brought in by legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to work on some of their current projects. Tim & Bob credit Jam and Lewis for recognizing their potential and helping them define their production style. “We watched and studied their career so much, we thought producers had to be self contained and do everything from writing the joints to playing every instrument."
“We have been fortunate to work with some of the best”. Adds Bob; “One of the lessons we learned from Dallas, L.A.Reid, and Jimmy and Terry is that those producers always defined what a radio hit is and what constitutes an album track” remembers Tim, “and they encouraged us to always experiment, but create our signature sound.”
There inevitably came a time when the team knew it was time to move out on their own. Soon after departing from Dallas; they instantly scored number one hits with Jon.B; “They Don't Know", Tamia; “So Into U". This lead to a desire to move out west, and while working with the now defunct Dreamworks label, Tim & Bob were instrumental for getting the rock group Papa Roach signed.
The move west was the catalyst to more success. Most notably; label deal and executives at Dreamworks Records, where they discovered the rock band Papa Roach debut album sold 10 million, the worldwide hit “Thong Song” by Sisqo, (8 weeks number one U.S. and number one in 30 countries for 2 consecutive months), Case’s “Missing You” 4 weeks at number one, and Michael Jackson's album entitled "Invisible" the duo produced the #1 single "Butterflies".”
Asked why they think they have been so successful; Bob Says “It’s a few things; we have had exceptional mentors who believed in us, we are very passionate about music and our artists – and unlike most producers; we tailor make joints for artists from scratch” Furthers Bob; “We have been blessed; and although we are proud of the work we have done, we haven’t even begun to do our best work yet, we have only just scratched the surface.
