Before you Update

Before making the jump to MPC 2.8, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. Projects created in the MPC 2.8 software will not be compatible with earlier versions of the MPC software.
  2. Owners of an MPC Live, MPC One, or MPC X will also need to perform the MPC 2.8 firmware update for compatibility with new features. See our guide here for instructions on updating your MPC X, MPC One, or MPC Live.
  3. The MPC 2.8 firmware update for MPC Live, MPC One, and MPC X can now be installed directly from a USB drive without connecting the MPC to a computer. Visit our guide here for a complete walkthrough.

Installing the Update

1. Once the software package is downloaded, find, and run the installer. This should be in your downloads folder.

For Windows users, be sure to extract the folder first and run the Install MPC file to run the installer. Click here for step by step instructions on how to Extract your compressed folder.

2. Click the MPC icon.

3. Click Update MPC Software. Keep in mind, this will replace the older version of MPC on your computer, but this will not replace or delete any of your projects, programs, tracks, or samples.

You may see a message pop up regarding 32-bit plugins. Keep in mind, all versions of MPC 2.0 do not support 32-bit VST's. Click OK to continue with your installation.

4. Follow the installer instructions. Be sure to choose which plugin components of MPC to install and where when prompted (Windows only).

You'll need to know this location to use MPC as a plugin in your DAW. If you're unsure, we recommend installing every component to its default location.

Once the installation is finished, you're ready to use MPC!
